In 2019 at the start of discussions on developing a destination management organisation, the idea of “Livingstone’s Story” came about. It was included in the Destination Management Plan launched in October 2019. Now, we are ready to use this story within a Toolkit as a means to providing everyone in the tourism value chain, with a simple, strong and cohesive message about our city. Relevant to restaurant owners, curio traders, taxi drivers as well as guides and front office staff in our hotels and lodges, we will develop training with the “Livingstone Story Toolkit”.
Engaging tourism consultants already familiar with Livingstone, will result in recommendations for starting out on a process of gaining international accreditation on sustainable tourism businesses within the city. This will become a useful information and advice service to accommodation providers, tour operators, facilities managers etc, to assist them to implement a range of simple actions within their organisations, that will reduce our carbon footprint and increase sustainable businesses.
