Unique Wedding Venues in Livingstone, Zambia

Livingstone is a fabulous location for a destination wedding. Your guests will be thrilled to receive the invite and find out that they have the opportunity to be whisked away to an exciting location. There are dozens of activities to keep everyone occupied and excellent accommodation choices to satisfy a variety of budgets.

A large part of the appeal of getting married in Livingstone is the weather. On average, you can expect 252 gorgeous, rain-free days in Zambia’s tourist capital. From June through September, it is almost guaranteed that not a drop of rain will fall. However, there are certainly advantages in travelling to Livingstone during the warmer wet season.

When it comes to planning a wedding, the venue is one of the most critical factors. It can set the mood for your day and convey the type of atmosphere you are looking to create. The venue can also play a significant role in determining the need for additional logistics and outside vendors, as well as defining your maximum number of guests and budget. Check out some of our top choices for unique wedding venues in Livingstone, Zambia, to give you some inspiration.

Livingstone Island

Number of guests – up to 24
Livingstone Island has to top our list of outdoor wedding venues in Livingstone. Imagine getting married on an island right on the edge of Victoria Falls. This venue is ideal for smaller wedding parties, as they are strict about the maximum number of guests; however, some couples use this venue for their ceremony or photos and then choose to have a larger reception elsewhere.

Livingstone Island has fully inclusive wedding packages available, including all of the necessary documentation to be legally married in Zambia. Most couples choose to book the 3-hour lunch tour option exclusively, though the 2-hour afternoon High-Tea time is also popular. Pre-wedding or honeymoon packages can include accommodation at their luxury lodges, Tongabezi or Sindabezi Island.

The Elephant Café

Number of guests – from 24 to 150
Voted Zambia’s Best Restaurant since the year it opened, the Elephant Café is renowned for superb dining at a gorgeous location on the banks of the Zambezi River. The Elephant Café is also home to its own herd of rescue elephants which will be in attendance for your guests to feed and leisurely watch these gentle giants. You will have the opportunity to get some of the most unique wedding photos imaginable with the free-roaming elephants.

The Elephant Café can cater for up to 24 guests at their fine-dining, exclusive restaurant that focuses on locally sourced and foraged bush cuisine. However, larger weddings of up to 150 guests can be accommodated in the Boma area using outside catering vendors.

United Air Charters

Number of guests – up to 80
By day, this venue is the helicopter pad and starting point for taking tourists on scenic tours of Victoria Falls. The view will knock your socks off… or perhaps your garter! During high water season, you can see the rising mist of the Victoria Falls in the distance from the venue’s raised vantage point. You will also have a mesmerizing view of the Zambian miombo forest for miles around.

United Air Charters can get you in touch with wedding planners that can transform this site into a gorgeous oasis for you and your guests. Outside vendors, including catering, bar services, entertainment and furniture, can be arranged through your wedding planner that can also advise on marriage formalities in Zambia.

The African Queen Cruise

Number of guests – 20 to 120
There are numerous cruise options on the Zambezi River to satisfy a variety of budgets and preferences; however, it would be challenging to top getting married aboard The African Queen for the ultimate in luxury and sophistication. This full-service venue can handle almost all of your wedding preparations.

The logistics of getting married on a cruise might seem challenging, but these guys are pros. You can have your ceremony on the boat while cruising beside hippos and elephants and enjoy an assortment of snacks and bubbles with your guests. Options include having dinner on the boat or back at the jetty for a more formal soiree. You can even surprise your guests and arrive by speedboat or get whisked away in a helicopter. Chat to them about ways to make your day uniquely you.

Livingstone, Zambia, has a myriad of outdoor wedding venues that let you take advantage of the fantastic weather and stunning scenery. We are confident that your wedding guests will be amazed by the location and be talking about your big day for years to come.
